Cal started studying classical guitar 6 months before auditioning into SUNY Fredonia in the Fall of 2017. There, he studied piano, aural skills, theory, jazz, music history and pedagogy; to name a few. He also had featured performances in many classical guitar concert showcases (Living Composers, Latin American Music, etc.) and musicals during his time there. Cal was a member of the Fredonia Guitar Quartet as well as the elected President of the Fredonia Guitar Society. He performed two classical guitar recitals in back to back years 2020 and 2021, completing his Bachelors in Music Performance Degree in May 2021.
